Clifftop ride

Thought Id share a ride I often do from my home.

Its a short ride, but has some fantastic views on a clear day and is just long enough to shake off the cobwebs.

Setting off from my house in Carlin How I travel towards Skinningrove going over the main road along bank top and passing the steel works. This brings…

Thanks for that info Mark. I'll try and get one today. My current front is Specialized, "The Captain" which isn't bad for the summer on perhaps XC but I feel I now need something a bit more capable of gipping on roots and cambers when it's wet & muddy.

To be honest I found the Cycle Show very disappointing for a mtbiker. It was mainly raodie orientated with only Specialized having a stand with mtbikes. There was a bmx track set up with lads showing off on that which was amazing and a pump track where they were having races 1 to 1 on a mirror course, which again was quite fun to watch.

I was expecting all things new in mtbiking, to help decide which components to use on my new build, and perhaps talk with Sram & Shimano but neither had a stand or an existence. I also wanted to see the full range of dropper seat posts, Crank Bros., X-Fusion etc, as I have a Reverb but was thinking of a different one for my new bike. I never saw a dropper post at all, apart from the one on the Specialized Epic 29er. About the only benefit for me was I wanted to see the full range of colours of DMR Vault pedals which I did.

If you wanted a light, then that was the place to be as there were thousands, of all types, but after just buying one from Bikelights after the demo night they, again were of no interest to me.

All the energy drinks/eats people were well represented and were giving taste and samples which seemed to be very popular for some reason, with the majority of the guests.

All in all, if you are a roadie or bmxer then the show was probably a good one ,but unfortunately not for a mtbiker. Do they have a separate show for them?

Thanks for asking, regards Martin

Hi Mark

I met you on Sunday on Hutton Lane. Alan Fields and I had just returned & you were just off for your ride. We talked about your Maxxis front tyre. Can you tell me what model it is please, I'd like to try one.
